We also use music to sensitise communities about social issues like: the importance of sending their children particularly girls to school and this is already yielding positive results. For example, meet Enid a 14-year-old girl from Northern Uganda. When Enid turned 13, her father decided that she was ready for marriage. Determined to get an education, Enid run away from home and walked for three days to come to our school and beg the headteacher for a scholarship position. Impressed by her determination, the headteacher offered her a scholarship and also made an effort to contact cultural, political and religious leaders in Enid’s village who agreed to work with our school to sensitise Enid’s parents about the benefits of sending girls to school. Enid’s father finally accepted to let Enid stay in school and now Enid is on her way to becoming the first medical doctor from her clan, family and community.
